WHAT TO EXPECT
This one-time breath research study takes about 30 minutes. Participants will be asked to:  

  • Provide informed consent in English (translator is allowed). 
  • Complete a brief questionnaire.
  • Spit into a tube and perform a supervised self-administered nasal swab.
  • Breathe normally into two breath collection devices each lasting less than 5 minutes. Every participant will receive a new, single-use mouthpiece.

Confidentiality: We will not share the identity of anyone participating in this research. The limited personal information we collect from this research project will be kept confidential to the extent required by law and will be properly disposed of after the minimum retainment period. We are under no obligations to report any personal information or breath analysis findings to any law enforcement, justice or medical agency.

Please note if you screen into the study: 

  • Please DO NOT eat, drink (except water), chew gum or use breath mints/freshener, or smoke/vape for at least ONE (1) hour prior to your visit.  
  • Avoid using perfumes and colognes as they may affect the research study.  
  • Bring a driver's license or government-issued ID. 
  • If you arrive early, please wait in your vehicle until your scheduled appointment time. 
  • Once you arrive, you'll be asked to wear a mask and gloves for the duration of your visit.
